Jala — Balinese for 'Net'
The Kitchen at the Water's Edge

The morning catch, the evening fire, the table between them.

Jala is an open-sided restaurant built directly above the reef. The name — Balinese for "net" — speaks to the fishing tradition it honours. Each morning, the catch arrives from boats moored below. Each evening, a wood-fired menu unfolds under the stars.

The kitchen is led by Chef Wayan Artha, who was born two villages from where Jala now stands. His cooking is rooted in the Balinese tradition of honouring what the land and sea provide — spiced, fermented, grilled over coconut husk, and served without ceremony.
